Getting Twitter Account Suspended

For previously being underage :(

Time changes so fast, and so does social media trend. Facebook was so fun back then, and suddenly it’s filled with a lot of old people talking about religious and political stuff. People then moved to Twitter, but those toxic people migrated to Twitter as well. I thought Instagram is going to be super clean as it only allows people to upload pictures. Now that it allows videos and stories, it’s a complete shithole.

Interestingly, after Twitter was quiet for some time, my friends said that smart people and funny people are back to Twitter posting high quality threads and memes. I have just used Twitter back last year, and I highly approve that claim. It then became my favourite source of information.

And… my account got suspended for a VERY STUPID reason. And it’s my fault.

How I Got Suspended

I finally graduated this year after all the shit I’ve gone through. I decided to change a lot of my social media biography/description, one of them is Twitter.

After changing my bio, I noticed that my birthday year is 1996 in Twitter. I was like, why was it 1996? Was it typo? I changed the year from 1996 and 1997. And…. this happened.

WHY WHY WHY WHY. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WHY IT WAS 1996. AND IT’S ONLY A PROFILE INFORMATION NOT AN ACCOUNT INFORMATION. SO WHAT THE HELL TWITTER, WHY U DO DIZ TO ME.

How to Unlock

The process is quite simple but so long. There are two steps in general.

  1. Give Twitter your identity card photo via an appeal form. I used my passport because my other identity cards don’t provide English information. I submitted the appeal in July 3rd. This one took a very long time and I did not receive any update whether it’s finished already or not. I tried to check everyday, nothing happened.
  2. I randomly tried to check in 20th July and yes, something happened. When I clicked the appeal form, it showed up a new page. Basically, they acknowledge that my birthdate is September 1997. My registration date is March 2010, therefore I was not 13 at that time. I was asked for several reasons why this could happen. I checked the option “I was below 13 at that time, but now I’m over 13”. And I got redirected to this page.
Got it Twitter :’(

Final Words

If you’re like me who registered at Twitter with a fake age in order to gain access, never try to change you birthdate on your profile. Otherwise, this unfortunate case will happen to you as well :(

So yeah, time to see interesting and funny threads without toxic people’s existence again 😄.
